ABOUT ME

Nathalie Bertrams is a freelance journalist and photographer, reporting mainly from across Africa and Eastern Europe. Her focus areas are global trade, biodiversity, environment and climate change. She publishes in international media including Al Jazeera, The Guardian, BBC, Süddeutsche Zeitung, NRC Handelsblad and Mongabay. She is a 2021 and 2018 National Geographic Explorer and has received multiple reporting grants, including from the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, Robert Bosch Stiftung and Fonds Bijzondere Journalistieke Projecten. In 2021, she was shortlisted for the Fetisov Journalism Awards for Outstanding Investigative Reporting and in 2015, she was awarded the Lorenzo Natali Media Prize by the European Commission.
